It will take you from the heart of the city, the port, to Passetto Beach<\/a>, one of the most popular city beaches in Europe.<\/p>\n

Your journey begins at the port, from the otherworldly Portella Santa Maria<\/a>: leave the port behind you and immerse yourself into the old town.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1622726205248{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]Right in front of you, there\u2019s the Church of Santa Maria della Piazza<\/a>, a jewel of Romanesque architecture, and certainly one of the most beautiful churches in Le Marche.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][mk_padding_divider size=”20″][mk_image src=”https:\/\/anconatourism.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/santa-maria-della-piazza.jpg” image_size=”full” title=”Santa Maria della Piazza” align=”center” margin_bottom=”40″ drop_shadow=”true”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1749799526336{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]Walk uphill along one of the alleys: you\u2019ll reach Piazza del Plebiscito, which locals call Piazza del Papa. This magnificent rectangular piazza is the city\u2019s stage, overlooked by the Church of San Domenico<\/a>.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][mk_padding_divider size=”20″][mk_image src=”https:\/\/anconatourism.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/piazza-del-plebiscito.jpg” image_size=”full” title=”Piazza del Plebiscito” align=”center” margin_bottom=”40″ drop_shadow=”true”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1622726302490{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]Leave the piazza from a different alley: take Via degli Orefici or Via Gramsci.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As you walk downhill, you\u2019ll find yourself in front of the Teatro delle Muse<\/a>. Check out the program! There might be an opera, a play or a ballet you might want to see.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][mk_padding_divider size=”20″][mk_image src=”https:\/\/anconatourism.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/teatro-delle-muse.jpg” image_size=”full” title=”Teatro delle Muse” align=”center” margin_bottom=”40″ drop_shadow=”true”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1742887956948{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]From here on, you\u2019re crossing the city on your way to the other seafront. Look for the Fontana del Calamo<\/a> (also known as Fontana delle Tredici Cannelle, Fountain of the Thirteen Spouts).<\/span><\/p>\n

Near the fountain you\u2019ll find the Mercato delle Erbe (Herbs Market<\/a>), teeming with fruit, vegetable and bread stalls, and people who do their shopping before having a coffee in one of the bars nearby<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][mk_padding_divider size=”20″][mk_image src=”https:\/\/anconatourism.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/mercato-delle-erbe-1.jpg” image_size=”full” title=”Mercato delle Erbe (Herbs Market)” align=”center” margin_bottom=”40″ drop_shadow=”true”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1622726892436{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]Walk through Piazza Cavour, one of the main squares in town. Keep on walking along Viale della Vittoria<\/a>, a tree-lined avenue that stretches across one of the residential areas of the city. You\u2019ll reach the War Memorial<\/a> (Monumento ai Caduti): you\u2019ve arrived at Passetto, Ancona\u2019s other seafront.<\/span><\/p>\n

Enjoy the view from the pinewood, from the elevator, from the stairs or from the War Memorial. If you\u2019re traveling with children, then you should stop by the Passetto Lakes<\/a> (Laghetti del Passetto).
