CASTELFIDARDO ARMORY
Located in the Cardeto Park, in the heart of Ancona, the armory, named after the Risorgimento battle of Castelfidardo, was built between 1864 and 1866, under the supervision of the Lieutenant Colonel Director of the Engineering Corps, architect Giuseppe Morando.

Located in the saddle between Cardeto Hill and Cappuccini Hill, at walking distance from the Villarey barracks, this used to be the largest gunpowder deposit in the city: 26m long by 13m wide, it could store 200,000kg of gunpowder.
The armory, completely restored, is open to visitors for initiatives and exhibitions thanks to an auditorium with 140 seats.
