PASSETTO
Passetto is home to one of the ten most beautiful city beaches in Italy. Locals consider it not just another beach, but part of the soul of city: it’s just one of those places you must visit when you come to Ancona.
This stretch of cliffed coast features the Passetto Caves, a spectacular rock formation called Seggiola del Papa, “the Pope’s Seat”, and a small beach of white stones. There is also a bar and a beach resort.
To reach Passetto Beach, just follow the path named after it, or take the elevator that connects the promontory and the pine forest above directly to the Passetto Caves. You can also walk down the steps below the Monumento ai Caduti (War Memorial), and enjoy a scenic view of the coast.
