PORTONOVO BAY

The most frequented and beloved bay of Conero, a perfect destination for tourists from all over the world who choose this paradise to enjoy the sun, crystal-clear sea, and unforgettable panoramas dominated by the majestic Mount Conero.

The beach, predominantly made of pebbles and stones, alternates between free beach areas and equipped sections, offering options for every type of visitor. Along the coast, numerous traditional restaurants with tables directly on the beach allow you to taste excellent fish in a unique setting. Speaking of gastronomy, you absolutely must try the “moscioli” – the wild mussels of Conero, a specialty that represents the culinary authenticity of this territory.

Within the bay, perfectly marked trails cross through a small grove that leads to the sea, allowing nature lovers to fully immerse themselves in the Conero environment. Nestled in the vegetation are two charming brackish lakes surrounded by thick reed beds of rushes and marsh reeds: the Deep Lake near the small church of Santa Maria di Portonovo and the Large Lake or Calcagno Lake near the pier. Other places absolutely worth seeing are the Torre de Bosis and the Napoleonic Fort, built respectively on the elbow point of the bay and in the northern area, historical testimonies that enrich the visiting experience.

Portonovo, Blue Flag since 2010, is a beach popular with tourists from all over Italy and abroad, that offers an awesome panorama, crystal clear water, and an unforgettable culinary experience.

The bay is easily accessible during the summer season by bus from Ancona and by free shuttle (line 94) from the upper car park to the piazzetta, running from 25 April. In the piazzetta, the Punto Blu tourist information office is open every day from 1 June to 30 September, 9:00–18:00.
