Swim, walk, explore

If you’re here it’s because you love the sea, the mountain, the parks, in short, all that nature has to offer. Come discover the green soul of Ancona!

Start your journey from Cardeto Park, Ancona’s landmark-dotted green lung.

The panorama from the park is in itself worth the visit. As for the landmarks, make sure you stop by the Jewish Cemetery and the Castelfidardo Armory. Oh, did we mention that there are not one, but two lighthouses?

Then leave the old town and walk down Viale della Vittoria until you reach the War Memorial (Monumento ai Caduti); take the stairs and you’ll arrive at the Grotte del Passetto.

Continue along the seafront. There are over 500 man-made caves dug into the cliff, each closed with a unique door. Take your time… taking selfies! This is the essence of Ancona – a unique place that you won’t find anywhere else.

In summer, you can go for a swim, or sunbathe side by side with the locals and have a chat with the fishermen who own the caves.

From here, go to the Pietralacroce district where you can visit Fort Altavilla, one of the many forts of Ancona, a beloved landmark that hosts a park.

Then take one of the many paths that lead to the seaside.

Here you’ll find Scalaccia Beach, a gem kept secret by the locals.
